Tank is getting over ran by worms

Postby sharkbait » Tue Jan 20, 2015 11:27 am

My tank has a lot of fan worms, spaghetti worms and some kind of clear thin worms (only comes out at night). I've read that fan and spaghetti worms are beneficial, but is there a tipping point where beneficial becomes nuisance? I'm getting grossed out by the spaghetti worms but they are really thriving right now. I'm starting to see tube like structures being created on my rocks.

1) What should I do with it? Should I start removing them before they start taking over my tank?
2) Is the spaghetti worm reef safe? There is one that is near my zoas and I can see the tentacles go over the zoas. It doesn't seem to bother the zoas but I just want to be sure.
3) What are the clear thin worms? Any ideas?

Wow, I hope you can find out what the clear thin warms are. And good luck on your tank!
