waterlevel drops but SG is not affected

Postby luckyme » Thu Jul 10, 2014 2:23 pm

Good day RP!

Hello,

Evaporation is normal so no need to worry about that, just make sure you replace the lost water. About your hydrometer, it might be better to buy one of those floating hydrometers for now, just to check if your current one is working or not.

if your water is receding but your SG level is still the same then it is not evaporation, it might be leaking somewhere. kung due to evaporation yan and with a nano tank like that, madedetect agad sa hydro mo yan na tataas ang SG. check mo din skimmer mo baka masyado wet skim kaya mabilis bumaba tubig mo.

If i were you instead of buying another thing to test your SG might as well buy a refractometer a bit expensive but a lot accurate than those things. Accuracy is the name of the game as in the long run it will be handy and much cheaper rather than buying those stuffs which are not that accurate as refracto is.
I myself is a victim of those hydrometers then bought a refracto wheeewww...... Way too far from my hydrometers, like hydrometer measures 1.024 or 1.025 in the refracto it's on the 1.029 to 1.030 big "D" tskk tssk hmmmmm........
Well if you have the budget go for refracto HTH

Pwede mo din i-compensate for temperature correction yun hydrometer.

Best pa din is refractometer if you can afford one.

yup, i had a same experience gaya ng sabi ni bro pot. :D

For now yung floating muna kung wala ka pa budget.

Mine got it from peter 1650 if I'm correct.

Btw hydrometer can be wash by vinegar just soak it for awhile then shake a bit then rinse with fresh water. Also practice washing every after use and before use...
And sometimes when you measure you could see small bubbles attach in the swing arm try to take it off by shaking or use a zesto straw but i think may included na plastic stick mga hydros na nabibili hth

Unless naka refrac ka or salinity probe. :)

Cheers,
Marty
