Help on my NITRATE PROBLEM

Sirs, I have the same problem, so far, only 1 ls a damsel, I have a 15g display tank, 10g sump. pero after 3 WCs, 80 pa din nitrates ko.... help masters...

naka kabit na yung skimmer ko for 5 days. ang problema ko 160ppm pa rin nitrates ko… guys is it ok for me now to dose vodka since my skimmer is already big enough unlike my skimmer before? or should I get a biopellet reactor? or any kind of reactor? Need help from the gurus. Thank you!

seachem purigen sir. parang filter media (mukhang white na activated carbon ata)
around p750 ata for 500ml. check mo nlng sa website ng seachem

Purigen is a filter media, pero pwede mo rin ilagay lang sa media bag, then itapat mo sa malakas na flow. Kung wala ka sump, lagay mo sa tapat ng outflow ng skimmer mo, basta madaanan lang ng tubig.

Yung sa akin kasi, tinali ko lang sa bibig ng drain pipe ko sa DT eh.

sakin kasi ung lang meron ako although 20gal lang ung akin. cguro 75% ng 1gal container ung chaeto ko.
hindi tumataas sa 10ppm ung nitrates.

Kung di mo pa nasubukan ang macroalgae, dun ka muna. If it does not or could not work on your system saka ka mag vodka dosing. Try to look for the cause kung bakit mataas nitrates mo. Are you still sumpless? How often do you do WCs?

BTW it is not generally recommended to dose carbo if you have macroalgae or other algal filters like ATS. Madalas nagkakaroon ng imbalance or competition sa nutrients. Although may mga tanks rin naman na sabay nagagamit parehas ng walang problema.

I agree with Marvin pero wag naman araw araw WC. Lahat ng mabilisan masama. cguro 10% ng water mo weekly is the best thing to do tapos ever WC mo siphon all algae you can see including detritus inside rocks. Make sure lang yung pang WC mo is nitrate free kasi kung may nitrate yan wala rin kwenta.

nag water change ako ng weekly at 60-70% before rainy season. i tested my NSW always and zero nitrates. nag siphon din ako ng detritus sa rocks at sand every water change. everytime mag water change ako ganun pa rin ka taas nitrates ko. and wala akong source ng macroalgae dito sa iloilo eh… di ako makahanap. Maybe i'll try purigen baka makatulong nga. will that help?

Sure WC would be the most efficient way to lower nutrients but until you've found the underlying cause, tataas at tataas pa rin yan. And daily WCs is not a practical (and cost effective) approach especially for a tank that size. Unless makakuha ng malaking batch ng NSW sa dagat.

Have you tried counter-checking your testkit? Try testing a freshly mixed batch of saltwater or new nsw first.

Ilan ang total water volume mo? As in net water volume? Kung wala pang 75gal ang water volume mo tapos marami kang isda yun na ang reason diyan kung bakit ayaw bumaba ng nitrates mo.

Bro marami sa beach na macroalgae. I bet even sa palengke sa inyo may lato/ararusep. If you can, try looking for halymenia, gracillaria or caulerpa species like c. Serrulata, c. Racemosa, c.taxifolia etc.

Problema kasi medyo marami isda sa tank mo and sumpless ka pa. I suggest habulin mo yung water volume rather than putting in too much sand and rocks. Try to lessen the fish load as well. Then see if that would help.

If it still does not work, keep doing WCs and either get a refugium or dose carbon (vodka or vinegar). Baka magastos masyado ang purigen sa ganyang kalaking tank. It may help but it is also a short term solution.

I always test the water first after pagka kuha sa dagat. perfect condition lahat ng parameters. My net volume is 100 gallons. for 2 months I change 35 gallons every week then ganun pa din nitrates ko. sige sir i'll get macro algae na and put it in my tank. tapos babawasan ko talaga muna mga isda ko and some corals. sir seth salamat sa lahat ng tulong niyo ha… hirap makahanap ng tumutulong sa reef dito eh… and for those people na nag susuggest at nagbibigay ng inputs at tumutulong. salamat sa inyo… si jancorwin parati ko ring kinukulit kaya salamat din...
