Hi guys,

I have a problem with NITRATES and it's 80ppm. I have a 120g tank and I change 30% of water every week and still it won't come down. My LFS suggested the DE NITRATOR tablets but it's a bit expensive. (2,500 for 20 tablets). I read about dosing vodka but I'm a bit scared to do it and might destroy my tank. I need your suggestions and help. Any reply would be greatly appreciated. Thanks RP!

basta sundin mo lang at wag ka mag overdose. sabi nila magkaka cyano ka or what pag nag vodka dosing.. di ko pa kasi natry vinegar dosing kasi sakin so far di naman ako nag ka cyano ewan lang sa vodka.

Masyadong mahina yung skimmer mo. Baka magkaproblema ka kapag nag dose ka ng vodka. Should you still decide to do it, half dose ka lang tapos damihan mo yung filter material mo.

Siphon every visible detritus when you do WCs, clean your filters frequently and do not overfeed. Problema rin yang sweetlips mo lalo kung malaki na yan, tsaka medyo marami ka nang isda.

ang dami nga kasing nilagay ng LFS ko ng chromis eh. hirap tuloy hulihin ngayon. wala pakong filter materials kasi sumpless tong tank ko eh. skimmer lang meron ako. may ma susugest ka bang pwede sa sumpless na filters or reactors or anything? Thanks sa help sir!

nagdodose ako ng vodka , at napababa ko naman nitrates ko, need mo lang talaga na efficient skimmer, at ingat lang baka kapag ng overdose ka magcrash tank mo

wala akong any kind of filter. just 2 wavemakers and a skimmer. sumpless ang tank ko. in your opinion. whatelse should i get to make my tank better? advisable nga bang lagyan ko ng de-nitrator tablets? yun kasi yung sabi ng nag seset-up ng tank ko eh.

i suggest get a sump filtration, tsaka san mo ilalagay yung denitrator mo kung wala ka sump , kahit ohf wala ka rin?

di kaya ng bioload mo ang biological filtration ng tank mo

get a sump, efficient / proper size protein skimmer and instead of a de-nitrator, carbon dosing (vodka, vinegar, NOPOX or bio pellet) will reduce nitrate and control nutrient in your system. hth

Again, I would tell you to get to the root of the problem. The main issue here is the tank is overstocked, lalo wala ka pa lang sump.

Nitrates is just one problem. Mas malaking problema ang phosphates lalo at may nitrates ka pa.

Just to add to everyone's inputs, kung wala ka pang ibang paraan para mamaintain yung water quality mo, in time magiging puno na ng dumi yan at makakasama na rin yun pati sa corals mo.

If you really can't get a sump, minimize your fishes and do more WCs. That will help.

Thanks sa mga suggestions niyo. I am planning to set up a sump na rin pero pano ko gagawin yun without drilling a hole in my DT? may mga link ba kayong alam kung pano gawin or diagram? thanks ulit! =)

I would still recommend having your tank drilled. Kahit 1" o 2" meron yan sa mga glass shops for sure.
