iodine is one of the basic suppliments that I used for my softies, you can research here for the use and benefits of iodine, goodluck

yeah, iodine is very much available sa mga LS, meron sa MH at sa MQ. I dont think there is a test kit for iodine eh, I just use it as per instruction on the bottle

4. CYCLING AND SUBSEQUENT REGULAR MAINTENANCE

Like any other reef tank, it is important to cycle properly. The end result of cycling is an effective bacterial foundation for your biological filtration. The longer the time spent in cycling, the better for the tank. I personally spend at least three months in cycling.

After cycling, I normally spend a three month staggered period (minimum) for coral livestock build-up. This allows the incrementally-increasing usage of the bacterial foundation in the substrate and live rock, allowing for a more stable tank in the long term.

Once cycled, the only minimum regular readings to be done include biweekly nitrate and phosphate readings, and monthly calcium readings, unless extraordinary events make you feel that a non-scheduled test is necessary. If you feel that you have to test on a more frequent basis, then by all means do so. In my case, my primary judgment is influenced more by the visible conditions/behavior of my livestock, rather than my test kit readings.

I dose iodine on a weekly basis (I believe in the anecdotal reports of certain authors that iodine helps soft corals). I also feed with bottled phytoplankton twice a week, for soft coral nutrition. I augment calcium once a month (but I skip it if calcium readings is still >400).

I used to do bimonthly water change of 33% of total volume. Why 33%? No scientific basis, except that my former salt mix came in a size that allowed me to do 33% change across my two softie tanks! When I shifted to Instant Ocean this year (which I get in 50 gallon sizes), I have also shifted to change to 25% water change every 6 weeks or so.
