Need advice. Chaeto + Deep Sand Bed

Hello,

Just like the subject says I need advice on my sump setup which currently have chaeto on top of deep sand bed of 4''. My setupis due to lighting requirements of chaeto, I have put lights there and im happy to say that the chaeto is slowly growing. But due to the constant lighting the sand and glass has become dirty due to brown algae? So what can I do? does that mean that I need to remove the chaeto and light or remove deep sand bed so I wont have this problem?

DSBs dont need light.. so it doesnt matter if may light or wala.. kung asan chaeto mo, magkakaroon talaga ng algae.. wala ka magagawa.. chaeto is a macroalgae.. if chaeto can grow, so can other kinds of algae.. "dirty" is good for a fuge.. you can clean it regularly kung ayaw mo ng may lumot sa glass pero most just let it be..

Just let the microalgae grow. They work similar to chaeto. Just be thankful that they are growing in the fuge instead of your display tank.

If you put opaque walls around your chaeto, you can keep the light inside, and that will reduce the growth on the sump walls.

Another benefit of having macroalgae in your sump is so that it out competes other unwanted forms of algae in your system. Including your display tank.
