Phosphate 5 nitrate 0

Hi guys,

Please help me to lower my phosphate. Already done 60% wc yesterday yet po4 is still high. My nitrate is already 0. Do you have any suggestions on how to lower it? I started to run rowaphos through a reactor this afternoon but po4 is still high this evening. I am thinking of dosing vodka. Any inputs on how this works? Also, does the sponge filter effective?

I've been in the same scenario before with a high p04 levels
I do also battle with GHA before which is connected to p04

In my case,To lower my phospates and to remove GHA, WC and GFO is your best friend.

What I've done before is this:
-40-50%WC weekly
-installed GFO reactor (GFO can be depleted within 24 hours at high levels)
- change GFO when depleted (usually takes 1-7days at high levels)

It took me 1-2months (not exactly sure) 6 packs of Blue treasure and almost 3L of BRS GFO to bring down my levels to 0.1-0.2 p04 levels at 80gallons.

Vodka won't do you any good, as bacteria utilizes/removes more N ions than P.

You will have to manually siphon accumulated detritus during WCs and will have to use more GFO for your PO4 to go down. Naipon na kasi yung phosphate sa tank at nasa sandbed at rocks na rin yan. So sa bawat WC mo unti unting babalik sa water column yung nakabind na PO4. Macroalgae may also help. Although they may require nitrates to utilize phosphates efficiently.



Overstocked pa rin ba yung tank mo?

Filter sock is also good to avoid detritus in your sump which soon can build up nitrate/phospate factory.
However, you have to clean it atleast once a week. Better if every other day.

@seth actully nabawasan na sila e. Next week papaadopt ko na dn 2 lionfishes ko. I think one of the prob din is ung damsel. Ginugulo nya ung sand e. Naghuhukay siya baka nahuhukay din nya ung detrius under sa sand bed.

The problem is actually not the damsel, may problema sa stocking and probably sa feeding/husbandry.

Medyo matrabaho pababain iyan, pero kaya naman konting tiyaga lang lalo sa WC.

Right now im feeding them twice daily e. Gagawin ko na lang bng one?

What kind of food do you feed them and how much? Mahihirapan ka pa rin pababain kasi kahit malaking volume ng WC hanggang andiyan pa rin yung cause ng elevated phosphates...

You could do that for the meantime, habang wala pang malilipatan yung mga lionfish.

I used to feed them with ocean nutrition formula 2 then naubos few days ago ngayon tnry mo omega one and ocean nutrition algae flakes. 2 weeks na ko nagwc ng 60 percent.
