since may access na tayo sa mangroves, dapat may new thread na tayo para dito.. pakita niyo mga set-ups niyo.. para mapalaki ng maayos..

it would be interesting to see the effects of mangroves to RP setups. There are still a lot of arguments as to it's efficiency. Some says it takes weeks for the mangrove to acclimate to saltwater, and takes 3-6months to become totally effective.
I hope the RP mangrove growers can establish a baseline, growth progress, and effects onto your tanks. Is the trouble of providing more space, lighting and maintenance of mangroves really outweigh that of macroalgaes, skimmer and denitrators (as some would argue)? Don't get me wrong, I would also really like to know.

from what i've read, you don't bury the propagules sa sand. hang muna using styro and allow it to root ng konti, then you plant it or let it attach sa rock. 1/3 of the prop nakalubog sa water prior to root-ing.

i followed this setup, will post sa progress nya. got about 9 for my 75g35sump as trial. SHO 24W for lighting. may 20w din sa chaeto and dagdag sa mangroves na rin.

In my set up the mangrove survived growed roots but the cheato melted, maybe the mangrove competed for nitrates...

should'nt mangroves have a mud or silt substrate? that is how it is in the wild.

ito yung mangroves ko before mga bro, share ko lang baka makatulong..hehe





- floating type yung ginawa ko and 8 w lang ang ilaw na ginamit ko pero nag thrive naman sila for several months, although yung leaves nila is maliliit. namatay na lang sila nung nilipat ko sila sa sandbed kasi naputol yung ibang mga roots. kaya IME, mas ok kung derecho nyo na i-plant sa sandbed yung propagules.

reminder lang mga bro, kung mag lalagay kayo ng planted mangroves sa system ninyo, make sure na sa plastic container nyo ilalagay and hindi sa glass tank since yung roots niya in the long run is nakakabasag ng glass.

and yung difference lang ng floating and sa planted is that mas fine or maliliit yung root system ng planted unlike sa naka float lang.
