has anyone ever tried keeping this algae in their refugium/sump? any inputs/comments po in keeping this for nutrient export? TIA!

Ulva is found in a nearshore, high nutrient context, rather than the
stereotype coral reef. It needs strong lighting and enough space to let
water flow stretch it out. In such a situation it can certainly assimilate
pollutants, but if it isn't lighted sufficiently (or can't find enough nutrient),
it can eventually expel its chloroplasts, leaving only a colorless thallus.
This may then be followed by a spike in dissolved organics in your system
water, dumped from the dying alga.

I agree, this algae would not make a good nutrient exporter as it has little to no capability to store or sequester nutrients other than such nutrients being used for growth, not being able to store nutrients leaves it vunerable to die off should nutrient levels drop.

I also had some of that in my tank, a few months ago, hardy pero madaling maubos kinakain kasi ng tang ko, galing ng Appari yung sa akin eh. sayang nga di me nakapaglagay sa sump? Saan po pwede makabili ng iba pang micro algae na pwede sa tank, maliban sa Cheato.
