Help! placing Chaeto in DT

Hello po. I have a chaeto placed in my DT. Its in a hatchery box na nakadikit s glass (via suction) and the water flow comes from the OHF. Phot period ko is 12 hours, with 2 T5s (pero NO lng) in a 15g sumpless, skimerless tank

Nung una ko siyang nilagay, it seems n narereduce n ung nitrates nung tank ko (from 40 to 20) but then, napansin ko bigla n lng siyang nag didisintegrate and nag 40 ulet nitrates ko. I moved it in another place n walang water flow ksi kundi kakalat ung chaeto na nag disintegrate.

Kaya ayun, dami 2loy hair algae n naman. I managed to manually remove the bigger pieces of hair algae pero tumutubo n naman ata. Dami ko rin diatoms ngayon after that.

Ano po masusuggest ninyo?

I had the same set-up sa chaeto ko sir, sa DT din and sa fish cage, tuwing gagalawin ko when I need to clean the glass, maraming nalalagas nga sa small parts.

Tapos naisip ko, to improve circulation sa chaeto, I moved it out of the cage and placed it inside a net, nilagay ko nlang sa likod ng rocks. mukang nag improve naman yung health nung chaeto, pero di pa rin ako nakakita ng significant growth...siguro dahil na rin sa high water temp.

so kapag nga yung nalalagas na chaeto, nakaka contribute yun sa algae growth, dumi nga ng sand ko eh...mamulamula pa...

just want to share sir..

ime, mas mabilis / effective po growth ng chaeto kapag nasa tray sya with smoothly running water over it, at ung ilaw ay about 4-5" above the chaeto.. isa pa, regularly prune / trim your algae weekly or as needed.. as i've read somewhere, minsan kaya nalalagas ung chaeto kasi hindi na kaya mag-absorb ng nutrients and/or may kakumpetensya sa nutrients sa tank (like bryopsis).. eto link nung chaeto ko dati, baka may maaitulong..

saka sir, ime din, mas mabuti kung pati ung mga nalalagas na piraso ng chaeto ay matanggal nyo, since die-off ng chaeto yun.. and that contains the nitrate and phosphate it has absorbed, and i'm sure you don't want that to leech back into your system.. and if you're pruning it, swish it gently on fresh saltwater.. keyword is "gently"..

try nyo din sir bawasan ung feedings nyo, since kung may algae growth kayo sa tank, ibig sabihin maraming nutrients ung system nyo..
