mga masters! Newbie po ako sa pag aalaga ng saltwater
ito po mga questions ko
1.Pwede po ba sabay ilagay ang live rock at fish? ( cycled na yung aquarium ko kaso wala pang live rock at fish)
2. Ano po magandang brand na HOB filter na pang 5 gallon lang ( yung makikita sa cartimar)
3. Ilan po dapat ang GPH ng filter ( 5 gallon)?
4.Kailangan ko po ba ng heater at kailangan po ba na tuloy-tuloy ang paggamit ng carbon?
5. Kung maglilinis po ba ng aquarium gagamit ba ng gravel cleaner? pano po matangal ang lumot na dumidikit sa sand
6.How to make pH stable?

bro.. i suggest you read first about cycling... lots and lots of people who start the hobby get misinformed about what cycling is all about. first good advice "dont believe what the local fish store told you about cycling" specially at some shops at cartimar... in my opinion there is no "cycled aquarium" that is being sold ready for fish keeping. If you want to save money and continue in this hobby you should start it the right way and that is "cycle your tank on your own".

if you can follow those steps then i can assure you that you will be in this hobby for life...

to answer your questions..
1. no! that is the salpak system.. ive been there and i tell you youll spend another 5k this month alone if you do that... hehehe!

4. if youre from baguio then yes.. but if youre from metro manila then no..
5. you need clean up crew for that... nassarius snails do the job pretty well...

so to clear it up, di ka po makakacycle kung walang live rock? eh pano na yung mga FO setup? paano sila nakakacycle? di ba pwede na ceramic rings muna? hehehehe

may nabasa ako "Baguio" taga Baguio ka sir?

sir...uunahan na kita...walang shortcuts sa hobby na to, at as far as i know you "FO" set-ups eh either constant water changes or merong live rocks for filtration, thus FOWLR din sila, wala lang sigurong rocks sa display? I can't see "FO" set-ups lasting for very long without some sort of filtration or a way to export nutrients, parang QT tank ang naiisip ko dito

ang live rocks po puno yan ng bacteria and other "live" things, once you take it out of the water, meron at meron mamatay sa kanila, isabay mo yun na ilagay sa tank(na walang biofiltration whatsoever) with your fishes and you'll end up with a nutrient spike, na pwedeng ikamatay ng fishes, tapos balik ka sa square one kasi magcycycle ka uli because of the liverocks

taga kalibo po ako heheehe king di nyo po alam, malapit lang kami sa boracay.
Wala pang SW petshop dito puro FW lang. Ako nga dito pinakauna nagkaroon ng test kit lol!
Kaya i want to start this the right way.

Pwede po ba na mag ca cycle ako ng aquarium with maybe 3pound of rock muna? yung dried hindi live kasi magpapabili lang ako sa kakilala ko. Magiging "Live " bayan kung tatagal ?tapos kung makakapunta na ako sa maynila eh dadagdagan ko na lang ng maybe 2lbs. sabay na ilagay yung fish?

yung tubig ba na gagamitin mo eh made with saltmix or from the ocean? kasi parang masyado sterile tank mo nyan kung dried rocks at saltmix, at walang pang "seed" ng microfauna, matatagalan ka magcycle.

pwede maging live yung dried rocks mo in time, lalo na kung may source ka ng bacteria na bubuhay sa kanila.

Unfortunately sir, hindi pwede yun, kasi sigurado sa byahe pa lang madami na die-offs sa liverock na kukunin mo, plus stressed din fishes mo sa byahe..tapos isang buhos sila lahat with the (half-dead)liverocks, patay un.

mas maganda liverocks muna kunin mo, cycle ka for a few weeks, then kuha ka fishes

Tagasan ka po ba?
kasi may isa ako ditong aquarium 15 FW eh meron akong thermomter na pang kusina, probe type pero pwede sa tubig. Di ko lang alam kung accurate, umaabot minsan sa 87 F

so ganito nalang gagawin ko, magpapabili ako sa kasama ko ng 5 lbs. na live rock tapos ipalalagay ko nalang sa container na may NSW na tubig tapos pagdating dito, start ko na yung cycle. Pwede bayun?
o dikaya, pupunta kasi kami sa Boracay sa sunday, pwede bamamulot ng mga bato sa ilalim ng tubig? live rock bayun?
