I guess i was just a bit lucky that my first attempt at a zero-edge somehow worked out Ok. I was really concerned about noise from the overflow being a problem and it was really noisy at first. Lucky enough with a little experimentation i found a remedy that reduced the noise by more than half. GrAhF11 wrote:

Maraming salamat kabayan! And may i quote you- 'Thank you brudah'
It would be an honor to have you visit my place brudah. And many thanks for the compliment. On the side note, if ever you decided to trim your xenia bro, you might be interested in trading/swapping with some ricordea frags. Cheers! Since i have a small tank and a smaller sump/fuge, i'll just set-up a small eggcrate in the DT to handle some frags of my xenia and if i'm successful then we have a deal! Thanks for the offer bro! hopefully i can add your rics to my ric garden

btw, may overflow designs po ba kayo na masusugest para sa nano cube? purely sps kaya d pwede yung zero edge.. 125g Main Tank [72"x20"x20"]

obet: i think i can spare you a couple of those hairy things!
As to overflow designs for your nano cube, maybe you can check this out: http://www.zeroedgeaquarium.com/FAQ.htm You can make your backwall as your overflow and incorporate a small box under the base of the tank that contains a sponge. This will minimize a lot of noise. However, cutting a square or rectangular hole in the base would be something i can't decipher. Maybe mang Ramon can do it. Also you have to design the cabinet to accomodate the box. Since you want to drill the base of the tank to hide the return pipe, either you still have to raise the output high enough or put a check valve( if you can find a good and reliable one that is saltwater safe). http://www.zeroedgeaquarium.com/Plumbingdiagram.jpg.jpg As for my zero-edge drain, i simply drilled four holes(two on each side) in the canal(overflow) and simply glued some airline hoses to the lip of the canal and the other end is just about an inch into the drain hole and it reduced the sound a great deal.
I would not recommend this for a bedroom tank but for a living room tank, i would say that the sound it produces is more soothing, like a waterfall effect and very relaxing. Good luck with your new quest
bro, is there a way for you to share pics of what's inside the cabinet --- how the sump tank is set-up and also the piping details?

You're welcome brudah! A video clip... http://www.garf.org/MPegs/XeniaPropagation.mpg I think we will be trading a lot of different frags in the future. Again, you really have a jaw-dropping setup there bro, and it's DIY. Awesome... everything is just awesome. Cheers! Thank you very much sir! I guess i was just a bit lucky not only with my first attempt at a zero-edge design tank but also with raising SPS corals! doctorhannibal posted:
The tank is only 6months old and i think that it has yet to evolve into something more natural and stable. You are most welcome to view the tank and it would be my pleasure to show it to those who would make the effort to go to my place specially to those who are interested in building a zero-edge tank. I will keep updating this thread so that we can all learn from this setup that i would say is still in its experimental stages. Thank u bro! billy_boi wrote:
At least now we can say that a DIY zero-edge tank is possible kaya tagumpay natin lahat ito! marlon posted:
This design has its own beauty but it also has its own limitations. I guess i was just daring enough to try it and invest my time and effort (and resources) without being sure that it will work out ok. nanokiper posted:
I wish i had taken some pics of the aquascape before i placed some corals and sand. It was inspired by a minimal tank that i saw in RC but i think that pictures does not do it much justice. I will be changing my very fine sand to something coarser to minimize sand storms in the bottom of the tank and maybe remove some corals on the sand bed to have a more minimal approach! Will post more pics as i go along!
