would you be able to share details on this? I am just curious why the quote came up that high...

if it's glass based and you will have it customised due to the lenght, perhaps it will be expensive but not to the levels of php 250k.

Which brings me to the other question --- location? Where are you going to have this installed as transporting the materials and even the installers may add into your escalation costs.

i would quote sirs and write and explanation afterwards

"Mr. ung aq na 18mm pag 42x132x24hinch bale p.176850 at ung 1/2 inch 36wx120Lx24h p.157000"

a relatively short text message sent be Mang Ramon to my roaming sim card. This would be for the DT and ST respectively i mentioned 250,000 on my post but it is 333,850thou if im going to refer the his quotation to the letter.

quite interesting...

perhaps, you can look at a shorter glass length or smaller dimensions... i remember you indicated cutting down on the depth per our suggestion in consideration of lighting requirements...

anyways, good luck on your quest for this giant tank.

chief eto lang.. nagpapalit ako ng front panel sa 125g ko lately.. sukat niya is 72"x21.5" and 1/2" thick.. he charged me 2.8k, includes glass, deliver and labor.. mahirap magtangal ng glass sa aquarium ha? hehe!

tanong ko lang, bat yung sukat eh iba sa plan mo?:D also almost the same lang ba yung price ng 1/2" sa 3/4" na glass? yung 1st tank is 573.5g with 3/4" thickness and yung 2nd is 446.8g at 1/2" thickness..:D and konte lang yung price difference?:D baka nagkamali lang si mang ramon..

just make sure that any sides of your tank will fit into the standard 4'x8' and that will save you a lot on money. i was told that 1/2 4'x8' is around 4000. you an do the math.

fyi, there is a thread in rc that talks about building a 1000+g tank. close to 100 pages na. guy is from thailand and very passionate.

3/4" glass is 10x more expensive than 1/2". SMS a friend and told me that its around 38k per piece. 4x8 lang yan. I know that standard glass can go up to 10 ft.

so mukhang OK na yun quote ni mang ramon.

and if you consider 1/2" thick, that will 10x less than the price of a 3/4" tank.

1/2" yun 160php. 3/4" is more or less 10x.

a year ago, bumili ako ng 1/2" glass.. nasa 123php per sq ft.. i think it hasnt change since ganun pa rin prices na aquariums..:D

btw, what is the biggest tank na pwede sa 1/2"??

my 200gal tank that is 34inches deep using 1/2 inch glass leaked after 4 years. Nag bulge sya sa bottom ng front glass because of the pressure. Nilagyan ko ng brace around the bottom inside the tank para makapalan ang silicone so far 1 year na sya k naman. :)

You can try this aquarium thickness calculator:
http://saltaquarium.about.com/od/planas ... ulator.htm

the lower figures have a bigger safety factor so i guess 12mm glass can handle 24inch deep tanks safely. Tanks longer than 8feet may need bracing though. The figures in the calculator are for rimless tanks so bracing will help a lot. Good luck!
