converting my two large tanks into saltwater tanks

many years ago, i was hooked up with keeping arowanas, and so my father bought a custom made two large tanks, with up and down metal stand.

i forgot the number of gallons it contains but here are the measurements: width 20in, length 72in, height 24in. the glass used is 1/4" thick.

questions:
-how many gallons does the tank contain?
-can i convert them to saltwater tanks? some say that tanks above 100gals should be made of 1/2" thick glass.

bro your tank is 148.96 gallons.. more or lesss 150g..
just mulitply the length, heights, and width (in inches) then divide by 232..

even for a freshwater tank and that's too thin! its up to you bro.. if you want to push through, you can (must) place only a few LR, IMO...

dati kasi dalawang arowana lang nakalagay dun. water lang talaga and the fish.

i plan to make it fowlr sana, kasi nga i cannot put large beautiful fishes like angels sa reef tank ko. o kaya gawin kong tank for carnivorous like sharks, rays, and the likes.

kaso nga lang mukhang thin nga talaga. benta ko na lang kaya tapos pagawa ako bago? may bibili kaya? hehe.

ilang years na ba yang tank bro? and na tambay ba yan na walang water? kung na tambay delikado baka pag lagay mo ng waterbiglang mag crack.. na experience ko na yan before, ung empty tank ko na tambay for 1yr+ then nilagyan ko ng water, ayun crack bigla.. and mahirapna ata butasan ang tank kung na dikit na.. perokung ok pa nmn ang glass bro, why not, sayang din..

yep. tambay na yung isa for 7 years! waha!

yung isa sa baba, until now may isang fish na ayaw mamatay! haha. yung freshwater na long-nosed, dont know the name e. partida ah, walang equipments. tubig na lang at siya ang laman. more than 7years na din yung isdang yun. haha.

ang advce sa akin is dahan2 lang sa pag lagay ng water sa tank, wag i full agad kasi baka mag crack bigla.. sayang naman, clear pa ba ung glass nun bro? and IMO baka mahirap na butasan ang tank mo bro kasi baka brittle na ang glass mo.. IMO lang u buy an overflow nalang at aquariatech para sure..

Get a new tank. Make that old one a sump. The addition of the dividers (see various sumps in this forum, for instance) act as additional braces which will strengthen the tank.
