tama. usually, recommended is 20% max. don't hurry the change to NSW. treat it like it was a regular water change, but using NSW instead. kathrina's tubig mo?

dto ako bumili sa marina mas malapit sa amin.
mali pla ginawa ko binigla ko kasi at chaka yun isang isda ko nagka ich kaagad bali nilipat ko muna yun isda sa lumang tubig.

Sorry for your loss. Maybe the water was contaminated? Lots of things could have caused the death of the fish, including high nitrates or different PH and salinity. Maybe some Buko juice? :wink:

I agree that it could also be the large volume of water change with different water chemistries. If it were NSW to begin with and not salt mix, then a 30% would not be bad for fishes. We do not know the what is in the salt mix and how it would react to NSW. I bet my money on the Buko juice theory....

marina aquaria? they have NSW?

anyway, you have to do something with the NSW first. it has ich, probably extremely hungry. some stock it for a month so that ich starves to death first.

Will these places test ithe NSW for you so you know it is clean and if it is not watered down?

they will not. you have to do the testing by yourself. i tested kathrina's NSW, almost always zero nitrates. haven't tested marina though. if it has ich, then it means it has no copper. which is good.

kathrina's, near the orchids, main parking lot. mang jun's water has nitrates, and a bit murky.

doc, i think fugu was referring to another thread

btw, NSW has ich. it is a part of nature. you kill (or minimize) the ich by stocking NSW for a month (ich will starve to death). what i'm doing right now is raising the stocked water temp. ich dies (or significantly minimized) at 86 to 90F. but then again, in a reef setting, NSW water changes is not the only source of ich.

Talaga? Mataas nitrate ng kay mang jun? Nag stock pa naman ako ng 90 gallons for 1 month. Pwede bang mawala nitrate nito kung naka-stock? Anyway next time bili ako sa kathrina na lang. Yung kathrina ba eh banda dun sa dulo? May nakapost ba na '' KATHRINA''? Anyway ask ako next time.

nitrates won't go away even if you stock it for long periods. you can install a denitrator for nitrate removal.
