I increased my salinity to 1.026 over a period of a month, a little bit every time I changed water. I would not mix raw salt in the sump but I have seen people do this.

yes, so it is safest to dissolve the salt first in water (be it with freshwater or your existing saltwater) before dripping it into the tank. did mine in 3 to 4 weeks as well.
