Question with regards to steel stands

Pansin ko lang about steel stands is madali silang kalawangin kapag saltwater. Any tips on how to avoid them on how to water proof?

Yung stand ko 1year na and wala pa naman ako nakikita na Rust. Ginawa ko lang sand mo hangang lumitaw yung bakal then pahiran ng turco, konting liha ulit tas nagapply ako ng 2quart ng automotive epoxy primer para sa standard 50gal stand.so makapal talaga yung ginawa ko parang 10 coats siguro yun 2quart ko.

Turco, primer then undercoating. (Herculiner would be the best, 3M comes close second )

Here's another thing I found out: Neutral cure silicone sticks well to undercoating. Sure ball water resistant yan. Hehe

Thank you for the reply. Ano po yung Turco?(first time ko marinig) San po mayroon non? Paint po ba siya or primer? Pwede po ba ako gumamit nang marine epoxy? Like Cord Marine Epoxy?

Rust converter yun bro. Liquid type yun.

Yung cord marine epoxy putty ata yun bro di lang ako sure.

turco is a brand of phosphoric based rust converter. nasa 150 ata yung pinakamaliit or 300. nakalimutan ko na. yung primer na ginamit ko, red oxide lang since undercoating ang ginamit ko.

sa akin mas convenient (and actually cost effective) yung ginawa ko na red oxide then undercoating afterwards, since mahirap i-apply ang marine epoxy. mag-peel off rin siya kapag hindi tama ang flashing mo sa bakal at hindi pantay ang timpla IME..

re undercoatinf, Xykene ang thinner niya kung tama pagkaalala ko. pero since wala nun dito, unleaded gasoline ginamit namin.

Isa pang tanong Seth. Square o C-type? Baka kasi mag rust din yung loob kapag square pero mas matibay naman. Yung C pwede mapinturahan lahat ng part para iwas rust.

Yan din discussion namin ng friend ko na gumagawa ng steel stands dati. C-channel fan sya. Ako naman tubular kasi mas matibay. hehe. Ang pinakabest way na naisip ko para maiwasan yung internal rusting ng tube, i-flash and prime na muna bago i-weld. Wala rin chance magka-rust sa loob basta fully welded and sealed siya. Pero kung may kahit konting butas kasi, dun magsisimula yung rust.

Yung mga steel stand builds sa RC usually tubular steel ang gamit. Mukhang di naman sila nagkakaproblema lalo na majority sa kanila herculiner ang gamit.

Pero either would be fine, yung ginawa naman ni spook3d dati 72x30x22" LWH 3.5" C channels ata gamit niya. Sobrang tibay naman. Si christian din, C-channels gamit, 4" naman. Hehe

Pwede po ba first coat is Turco(multiple coats), second coat is Red Oxide, then last coat is desired color of paint. Will this work?
