Hello RP, just want to have a general idea on what salt mix most of us here are using. Sikat yata ngayon yung blue treasure. Hehe.

Please share and for how long and why.

1.) Blue treasure
2.) Instant Ocean
3.) Red Sea
4.) Salinity

6.) NSW
7.) Others

Blue Treasure SPS since mid of 2012

Reason:
Because its once of the cheapest saltmix na kayang makabuhay ng corals and readily available sa country natin.

McCormick because it doubles as a flavoring for our meals.

Lahat na yata ng saltmix nagamit ko, lol! Even tried biomix, mga 2 bags din ata nagamit ko nung nagcycle ako nung sump. Okay naman.

Reef crystals ako at Red Sea pro. Yung RS inuubos ko lang, sayang nabili ko na e haha. RC kasi di ako nagkaproblema sa kanya ever since. Would still use NSW if it wasn't such a pain in the * to haul.

I started the hobby with Carti Blue Bag on my FOWLR. Hirap tunawin yung salt and I couldn't keep inverts (except nassarius) alive.

When I started my reef, I used the regular Blue Treasure with good results. I used this consistently for 6 months, but had some negative effects from my last two 6.7kg bags. Di maganda reaction ng corals kapag nagwa-water change ako. Probably a defective batch.

I then started using NSW as a remedy, very nice effect on the corals, but not a practical method for me (I live in Central Luzon and I am yet to acquire my own private vehicle).

I then temporarily used one kg of Instant Ocean (not sure if it's Reef Crystals) given by a friend, can't tell if I would favor it 'cause I used only a small amount.

I then switched to Salinity last October with very good results, and I've used it ever since.

Also, I tried DIY salt, but with not so good effects on the corals (probably my error on weighing or a missing reagent).

Just bought 25kg Reef Crystals kay Cute Chinita sa cartimar, 3100php
Instant Ocean 25kg nila 2700php

For me mas practical bumili ng Instant Ocean 8kg good for 200+liters mix kasi 450 lang.
Late ko na na realized na if you do the math, mas economical to buy 3x8kg Instant Ocean = 24kg 1350Php than 25kg 2700Php
Kung may 8kg na Reef Crystals yun ang kukunin ko next time.

mas mura 8kg na Instant ocean(450) sa 8kg na Blue treasure(650)?

Kung 450/8 kg package sa kanila then hands down eto na ang pinakamura at pinaka magandang salt.

This got me curious though, may picture ka ng packaging ng 8kg bags ng IO nila? Original packaging ba yan or tingi/repacked?
