go fishless for 1-2 months.. patay ich.. corals cannot survive at hyposalinity..

@obet; prob ko is ang dami kong isda ngayon then anghirap pa kunin kasi andami na nato na pwede nilang pagtagoan. 4ft pa height ng tank ko. tsk.

anemone ba mamamatay din ng hyposalinity?

My tank had a nasty ich outbreak that started last month. This killed several of my fish including my most prized Regal Angel that was eating well (kala mo tang sa takaw). Could not use other methods since my tank has lots of corals already.

I tried using UV light as last resort and . . . surprisingly it works! :D

I hooked up 4 11watt UV lights to 4 of my 1" (ID) pipes from the overflow box before going to the sump. After just 3 days, the visible ich on my fish were gone by at least 50%. After 1 week, I could count the ich visible on some of the fish that still had ich, most had no visible spots. During the height of my ich infestation, all fishes had lots of ich, some really covered with spots especially in the morning before my wrasse & cleaner shrimps did their job.

Will probably run the UV for 1 month 24/7 then just run at night after 1 month.

Now my fish aren't scratching on rocks and moving happily as they did before and their bright colors are back.

what kind of UV ur using? uvfluorescent light? how big is your tank? can u post pics mikefirefox so we could see? thank you.

i have existing UVfluorescent light 1 - 2ft fluorescent on my sump.

In addition to that, i run heater on my tank. 30Celsius and added 2tsp of iodized salt per gallon of water of your tank.

Seen this on youtube. Is this effective? HEAT + SALT?

sir i think yung adding salt sa tank is for freshwater aquariums.. it will rid tanks from freshwater ich.. for saltwater ich, you can lower salinity or add copper.. both will not be good for anything that is not fish..
UV fluorescent? UVs are enclosed in a sealed tube because they are harmful to our health.. uv filters kill almost everything that passes thru them even phytoplankton, zooplankton, ich and other living microscopic organisms.. baka yung uv fluorecent na sinasbi niyo yung black light? just to clarify lang sir..

parang black light pero may uv lamp na fluorescent type din. inienclose ko un sa ilalim ng sump ko.. natanggal naman un algae na nandun sa sump b4 hand.

pro un heater sir effective ba un? cant lower my salinity kasi may anemone.

sir, matanong lang. un binebenta ba sa supermarkets na dried seaweed good un for regal/oriole na diet, mga herbivores?

with adding iodized and heating my tank to 30Celsius parang nag improve naman REGAL ko.

Then reading some articles about ich. UV doesnt kill ich daw but prevents it from multiplying.

ah ok.. kasi delikado magbenta ng fluorescent na UV.. kung hindi alam ng ibang tao..

the life cycle of ich is faster when the water is colder.. so by heating the water, you slow the life cycle of the ich, giving the fish time to strengthen its immune system and fight new ich.. adding a heater makes the water temp more stable rather than high temp swings pag walang heater (malamig sa gabi, mainit sa araw)

yung dried sea weed sa supermarkets pwede ipakain yun.. make sure na roasted lang yung bibilhin.. wag yung may flavor... almost the same lang siya nung nabili ko na reef veggies..

UV kills the free flowing form ng ich.. but not the ich na nakadikit na sa fish or sa rocks.. it kills the ich that goes thru the UV.. pero not all the free flowing goes thru the UV kaya hindi pa rin siya cure.. it kills as many ich that goes thru the UV so in sense binabawasan niya yung mga ich na nasa tubig.. may mga terms yung ich depending sa life cycle.. d ko lang matandaan..

np.. well almost all petshops sells fish with ich.. natural lang sa ocean yun.. mabilis lang mag multiply yung ich sa enclosed system kaya ganun.. petshops that QT there fish with copper, for sure wala ich.. pero bihira lang ata ganun.. Direct Aquatic ata ok.. personally i have no experience pero ok naman from what other people say.. yun nga lang pricey..
