Postby jdl » Wed Jul 28, 2010 10:43 am

1. whats the reason why they wont open?

2. will they open again?

3. what to do to make them open again?

post ka parameters sir.

share ko lang ung experience ko..yung akin kasi before nung nagkaproblem ako sa tank dahil sa taas ng temp ko parang nagcrash ata ung tanke ko so may mga nadeads and ung mga softies/lps natunaw. after a few water changes and a couple of days napababa ko ung mga parameters and after a week ung mga zoas ko isa isa ng bumukas. :D

baka ung water parameters kaya? or you can read here..

Try nyo po rin na ilagay sa higher location na intense ang light.

Bro, minsan ang problem is just too little oxygen around the tank kasi i saw na may skimmer ka naman... is your tank indoors in a closed room? if yes, may enough ventilation to get fresh air from outside? to test for this issue, get a sample of tank water then bring it outside, stir it occassionally for a few minutes para may air exchange then test the ph... if it goes up to 8.0++ then a possible prob is ventilation.

Matagal na ba tank mo? you have lots of algae on the LR na? these are sources of oxygen din kasi and increase ph during the photoperiod... if low ph ka during the photoperiod in a tank with enough algae, with good ventilation and with skimmer pa, baka you have insufficient buffering... test mo alkalinity mo... baka you get low ph only when lights are off. I usually control alk with sodium bicarbonate

Ano gamit mong Saltwater? NSW (natural salt water) or saltmix? Di kasi maganda ung local na saltmix sa corals. Better if you use NSW or imported saltmix.

Hmmm... about low ph - baka nga low oxygen level ang cause... pag photoperiod ng sump with chaeto, that would help increase oxygen levels bec of photosynthesis but if reverse photoperiod ang sump, problem ang ph during the day... May window ba or opening to outside air na malapit sa tank? I think your skimmer should have an air intake hose... you can connect a long hose to that intake and the other end can be set to get fresh air from outside... plus you can put alk buffers to cushion the ph swings...

btw, baka hindi din naman low ph ang prob ng zoas mo but you should keep ph at or little above 8.0 ... baka acclimation issue lang - komusta na sila? are they opening already?
